REGARDING THE NEW YORK TIMES VANDALISM INVESTIGATION

October 9, 2025

Last week, NYPD raided the homes of three people in connection with a July vandalism action on the New York Times offices. Three people were arrested and had many of their possessions confiscated, after which they were arraigned on felony charges. The following is an excerpt — with sensitive details redacted — from the police report on one of the accused persons. It reveals some concrete details about how NYPD investigates actions of this nature, including the extensive capacity of security cameras as well as the use of the MTA OMNY and Metrocard systems as a mass surveillance tool. This may not be the full extent of the techniques used — just what was necessary to include in the report.

I reviewed surveillance footage from July 30, 2025, at approximately 4:00 AM, depicting a group of individuals using various containers of red paint to spray and pour red paint on the New York Times building in midtown, Manhattan. This surveillance footage further depicted the following message left in white, capital letters on one of the glass windows of the New York Times building: “NYT LIES; GAZA DIES.” I observed leaflets left behind outside the New York Times building, which were titled, “THE NEW YORK TIMES IS STARVING GAZA.” The leaflets included a cartoon of two pigs painting pieces of paper in red lettering. The leaflets also read, in part, “THE NYT IS AN ACTIVE ACCOMPLICE IN THE ONGOING GENOCIDE.”
As part of my review of the above-described surveillance footage, I observed an individual spraying or pouring cans of paint on the sidewalk directly outside the New York Times building. The individual was dressed in all black clothing, wearing a face mask.
I additionally reviewed surveillance footage depicting 8th Avenue and 38th Street on July 30, 2025 at approximately 3:59 AM, two minutes after the above-mentioned individual poured or sprayed the paint. This footage portrayed said individual heading southbound on 8th Avenue. This footage additionally depicted said individual removing [a] black outer layer, thus leaving only a white tank top. I additionally reviewed video surveillance footage depicting 8th Avenue and 36th Street on July 30, 2025 at approximately 4:01 AM. This footage portrayed the above-mentioned individual wearing the above-mentioned white tank top, still walking southbound on 8th Avenue. In this video, said individual appeared to walk next to another…individual who was wearing black…I additionally reviewed video surveillance footage depicting the 34th Street Penn Station subway stop at the A-C-E train entrance on July 30, 2025 at approximately 4:03 AM. This footage portrayed the two above-mentioned individuals entering the subway platform at the turnstiles.
I reviewed subway fare information for the above date, time, and location to identify the OMNY cards that swiped into the station. Via the above-described review, I identified the OMNY card with serial number ——-
I proceeded to review OMNY card transaction history for the card with the above-mentioned serial number, and the card was purchased on July 29, 2025 at approximately 11:25 PM at the ——- subway station in ———, New York.
I reviewed video footage of the ——— subway station, depicting activities from July 29, 2025 at approximately 11:25 PM, and I observed an individual with the same build as the above-described individual appear to purchase an OMNY card at a machine. I followed that individual via video, and observed that same individual inside of [a retail business], located at ——— on July 29, 2025, at approximately 11:27 PM, purchasing an item without wearing a mask, and wearing a graphic t-shirt bearing a logo that read, ———. Said t-shirt was recovered from the defendant’s residence, pursuant to a search warrant. I followed this individual via video, and observed —- enter and exit a residential building in ———, both before and after 11:27 PM.
I am informed by State Trooper —— ———- , Shield No. ——, that after he conducted an investigation, he believed that the above-described individual is the defendant. I am further informed by Informant 1, a company representative known to the District Attorney’s Office, that an individual by the name of the defendant lives at the address at which the above-described individual was depicted on surveillance footage entering and exiting.
I am informed by a representative of the New York Times that he is a custodian of the above-described property, and that the defendant did not have permission or authority to damage said property.
Representatives of the New York Times shared invoices with me reflecting the costs incurred to fix the damage. I am informed by the above-mentioned invoices that the total cost required to fix the damage amounted to $107,599.54, consisting of $28,587.40 in cleanup costs, $7,154.64 in mag lock repair costs, and $71, 857.50 in façade repairs.

We hope that folks will develop their own takeaways, cross-referenced with other revelations about NYPD investigative practices, to develop more thorough understandings of tactical weak points of actions within NYC. We want to note that while police saw some success here, there have been countless actions of this kind in recent memory where nobody was identified. Most techniques of the state can be creatively juked. We have to believe that it is always possible to slip under the wire.

Journalist Charged with Hate Crime After Photographing Protest of New York Times’s Gaza Coverage

September 30, 2025

Here in New York, prosecutors have charged three people over a direct action targeting The New York Times last summer. On July 30, protesters doused the Times’s headquarters in Manhattan in red paint with the words ”NYT lies, Gaza dies” spray-painted on the building’s windows. On Monday, prosecutors brought charges of felony criminal mischief against two protesters; meanwhile, a photojournalist who took pictures of the direct action was charged with aggravated harassment in the second degree as a hate crime. The group Writers Against the War on Gaza has condemned the prosecution as an attack on the movement to end Israel’s assault on Gaza, and an attempt to criminalize both journalistic and political speech. This is organizer Tracy Rosenthal.

Tracy Rosenthal: “This action echoed the tactics of Palestine Action in targeting weapons manufacturers here at the headquarters of The New York Times. And I think it must be understood as an antiwar action against the paper, which has supported every — like nearly every U.S. war in my lifetime. I think we can turn to the words of Palestinian journalist Hossam Shabat, who was assassinated by Israel this March, and who wrote in June 2024, ‘Language makes genocide justifiable. A reason why we are still being bombed after 243 days is because of The New York Times.’”

    JOE KAHN LIES, GAZA DIES

    JOE KAHN LIES, GAZA DIES

Julius Sebastian Streicher was the first member of the Nazi regime to be convicted of crimes against humanity at the Nuremberg Tribunal in 1946. His crime? Founding the newspaper Der Stürmer and publishing vitriolic, racist propaganda that helped incite a genocide. For this, he was executed by hanging.

Joe Kahn, the executive editor of The New York Times, is responsible for publishing the single most damaging piece of atrocity propaganda since October 7, 2023: “Screams Without Words,” a famously debunked article that relies on racist tropes and zionist hasbara to smear Palestinian resistance fighters as rapists. Hailed by Kahn as a “signature piece” and entered into multiple journalism competitions, this falsified investigation has been cited by U.S. lawmakers to justify U.S. support for the ongoing genocide. This is the legacy of Joe Kahn: publishing lies that are parroted by imperial puppets in corrupt governments the world over and touted as fact, enabling mass weapons shipments and reinforcing anti-Palestinian sentiment that propels the genocide and mass starvation of Gaza. After the claims of the piece were exposed as false, Kahn directed what the president of the NewsGuild of New York described as a “racially targeted witch hunt,” harassing and intimidating Arab and Middle Eastern employees in an attempt to identify the whistleblowers who revealed their lies.

The pages of the New York Times drip with the rhetoric of genocide accomplices and apologists. Times editors, executives, and journalists have proven themselves to be the bedfellows of the Zionist regime, benefiting from and profiting off of the atrocities their lies enable. To run media cover for U.S. imperial interests is to support and legitimize genocide, and to serve as a cog in the well-oiled war machine. To publish known lies is to abet the laundry list of Zionist war crimes. Those who commit such malpractice are not journalists; they are genocide propagandists, and their hands are stained red by the crimes that they incite, defend, and obscure.  Words have power, and we will hold the genocidaires of the so-called “free press” accountable.

Vandals Destroy Two More Central New York Golf Courses, Causing Extensive Damage

    August 4, 2025

Local golf course owners are reeling after three separate acts of vandalism have left greens destroyed, causing thousands of dollars in damage.

Authorities are now investigating what they’re calling serious, targeted damage across Central New York.

The latest incident occurred at Barker Brook Golf Club in Oriskany Falls, where someone drove onto the course, leaving extensive damage behind. From tire tracks on the green to a cart in the pond.

North Shore Golf Club in Cleveland, New York, was also hit.

A UTV-sized vehicle tore through the course between 1:00 and 1:30 AM, leaving deep ruts across the 2nd and 4th greens.

The owner, Rob Caione, said, “These greens cost between 50 to 60 thousand dollars. This is a shame. Very sad.”

A few weeks ago, someone drove a vehicle onto the Skenandoa Club in Clinton, causing similar destruction, also owned by Caione.

The vehicle reportedly tore through the fairway and tees on hole 9, ripped through a bunker, and even left tracks across the green on hole 8. “I’m literally sick to my stomach,” Michael Intartaglia said. “We work so hard to keep our course immaculate.”

Marked NYPD cars vandalized in NYC before anti-Trump protests

    June 15, 2025

At least three marked NYPD cars were vandalized in the Big Apple between Friday night and Saturday morning, hours before thousands of anti-Trump demonstrators took to the streets, police said.

A police cruiser was found parked at 73rd Street and Broadway in Jackson Heights, Queens, around 6 a.m. bearing yellow graffiti that read “FTP,” which protesters use to mean “f–k the police,” cops said.

A second marked car was found a few hours later on East 152nd Street and Tinton Avenue in the Bronx at 9:20 a.m., with what cops believe was a slashed tire, a police spokesman said.

Someone also threw a glass bottle at the front windshield of a marked police cruiser at Marcus Garvey Boulevard and Madison in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, around 9 p.m. Friday, police said.

The vandalism happened about two days after police cars were set aflame in a parking lot outside a Brooklyn NYPD stationhouse in a suspected arson attack.

Retaliatory Attack on Columbia University Public Safety

Last week, Columbia University Public Safety trapped students inside Butler Library after they established the Basel Al-Araj Popular University. Students launched the university to “exert sustained pressure on university administrators to divest from the Zionist entity,” as CUAD explained in a statement.

New York GOP headquarters defaced with Nazi imagery

    April 30, 2025

The New York state Republican Party’s Albany headquarters was vandalized and defaced with Nazi imagery for the second time this month as GOP leaders criticized Democrats for ratcheting up political tensions.

Vandals taped swastikas to the doors and windows of the GOP’s offices and a message that read, “If this is not what you stand for, prove it,” according to the Albany Police Department, which is investigating the crimes. It was the second such incident at the party’s headquarters in the past two weeks, authorities said. No arrests have been made.

New York GOP chairman Ed Cox blasted the “hateful vandalism,” saying it “invites political violence and threatens the wellbeing of our employees and guests.”

“This is not only an attack on our party, it is also an attack on the values of civil discourse, democracy and decency.”

Security Checkpoint Vandalized at Columbia University

    April 30, 2025

Overnight, an autonomous group acted against Amerika’s repression of the Palestine movement. The group attacked one of Columbia University’s border checkpoints — structures created to surveil and suppress the student momvement. Security equipment was dismantled and stolen. Infrastructure was vandalized.

These checkpoints materially link Columbia to the zionist occupation through an identical colonial tactic: separating the hallowed “inside” from the criminalized “outside.” There are parallels in the way that resources are concentrated “inside”: the ill-gotten gains from Columbia’s rampant expansion across Harlem mirror the zionist entity’s desperate, vampiric attempts to transform and extract as much value from Palestinian people and land as possible. There are parallels in the way that the technologies and institutions used by ICE to surveil, kidnap, and traffic immigrants in the US — with the help of IOF-trained pigs — are used by Isr*el to murder Palestinians and Black and Brown people globally.

The U.S.-zionist empire is attempting to erase Palestinians and Palestine. It is our duty to act. Any instruments that further our repression will never be allowed peace.Free Palestine. Free all political prisoners. Glory to our martyrs. Abolish ICE.

Vandalism of Police Vehicles near Bronx SRG HQ

    April 27, 2025

Earlier this week, a group of activists vandalized a line of police vehicles near the Strategic Response Group’s Bronx headquarters. The SRG is a notorious NYPD unit, trained by “Israel” and responsible for the violent repression and daily brutalization of all New Yorkers; most notably including scores of Palestine solidarity protesters in the past 18 months and Black Lives Matter activists in 2020.

We slashed their tires, smashed their windows, and sprayed their vehicles’ insides with paint, making them virtually unusable. In isolation, this act of resistance won’t do much to stop the relentless onslaught of state violence and repression our communities are facing. The NYPD owns thousands of vehicles and other property that are ripe for the picking. Join us! It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3: SLASH, SMASH, SPRAY!

Bloc up, stay safe, use discretion, and act now! Marches are not enough. Target unsurveilled areas, conceal your identity, and leave no trail for them to follow. They can’t catch us all. Fuck the police and free Palestine!

    Tools used

    Slash: ice pick
    Smash: spring loaded center punch
Spray: fire extinguisher (1/3 paint, 1/3 water, 1/3 air)
Leather gloves, ski masks, black bloc. Always cover face and eyebrows during travel to and from actions.

Tires Punctured on Eight NYPD Cars at 88th Precinct

On Tuesday night [April 15] we punctured tires on 8 NYPD cars and sprayed “PIG” all over them at the 88th precinct right under their stupid noses. When the pigs are too complacent then collectively we are doing something wrong.

The 88th precinct is known for it’s tyrannical rule over both local community and new migrant neighbors. It famously collaborated with ICE during the 2020 George Floyd uprising by using ICE to guard their precinct building besieged by massive protests.

Five years later and where are we now? Every day another human being murdered in custody, through neglect or savage beatings. Robert Brooks and Messiah Nantwi. Five people have died at Rikers just this year. Two died in nyc holding cells just in the past month before even being arraigned.

Every day another neighbor disappeared into some far off prison, never to be seen again (look up CECOT). Every day another student kidnapped by ICE. Every day another community invaded by fascists demanding papers and hunting Black and Brown people for sport.

Every day another family incinerated by USA-made bombs in Palestine and Yemen.

When will it stop? We must come to a point where we realize that NOTHING WILL STOP if we don’t MAKE IT STOP. No amount of appealing to politicians, to cops, to institutions like Columbia, will help us. Let go of that, and we free ourselves.

The Empire must fall. Strike where you are, at whatever institution you can that upholds this whole stinking pile of dogshit. Every strike against the NYPD is a strike for communities both here and all over the world. May the strength of revolutionaries who have lived and died for liberation be with you.
